Bedrock Security Establishes National Data Security Day and Launches Hero Awards Program

MENLO PARK, Calif., July 17, 2025 (TECH INFO SCENE) — Cybersecurity company Bedrock Security has announced the establishment of National Data Security Day. The annual observance will take place every August 7, beginning in 2025, to promote awareness of data protection best practices and to recognize the professionals safeguarding the global digital economy.

According to the company, National Data Security Day will celebrate cybersecurity professionals, compliance officers, cloud engineers, and privacy specialists who play a central role in defending critical data infrastructure. The observance aims to raise industry-wide awareness around evolving digital threats, data governance, and privacy regulations.

To coincide with the newly established holiday, Bedrock Security has also launched the Data Security Hero Awards, a program designed to spotlight individuals contributing to innovation and resilience in data protection. Nominations for the awards are open through August 3, 2025, with winners to be announced at Black Hat USA 2025 on August 7.

Award categories include Data Security Hero, Data Governance Hero, and Data Management Hero. Each category recognizes professionals making contributions to securing sensitive data, mastering governance protocols, or optimizing data management operations.

The announcement comes in the wake of findings from the 2025 Enterprise Data Security Confidence Index, which reports that 82% of cybersecurity professionals face critical gaps in locating and classifying organizational data, and 53% lack real-time visibility into sensitive assets. These gaps, according to Bedrock Security, are compounded by challenges related to artificial intelligence adoption, cloud infrastructure complexity, and increasing regulatory demands around digital sovereignty.

Gartner projects that by 2029, more than half of multinational companies will have adopted digital sovereign strategies, reinforcing the need for a coordinated approach to data security, governance, and management.
